The Makers Fair began as a collab. between Assemblage (F.K.A. Makers Union PDX) and Hammer & Stitch Brewing Company in the fall of 2021. Reduced indoor attendance enforced by state mandates during the pandemic limited opportunities for PNW makers to gather together to sell their products. As retail sales declined and social distancing drove a wedge in our communities, the vision to bring makers and neighbors together in a safe and spacious outdoor environment was created.

Our first Makers Fair launched on October 9, 2021 and was a wild success, with over 40 local makers, 5 food vendors, 1,600 attendees and a selection of locally crafted brews.

Since then, we’ve grown to produce additional The Makers Fair events, including:

  • The Makers Studio Holiday Market, 2021: 75 Makers and 2,000+ visitors.

  • The Makers Fair, Summer and Fall 2022: Over 60 Makers and 1,800+ visitors.

  • The Makers Fair Holiday Market, 2022: 32 Makers and 1,200+ visitors.

  • The Makers Fair Holiday Market at Rejuvenation, 2023: 142 Makers and over 6,000 visitors.

When local makers sell their products to local consumers, the economic benefits remain in the local economy and together we decide what future we want to build! Our aim is to cultivate a strong community that actively celebrates and uplifts every style of person as we strive to be leaders of inclusion and change throughout Portland. We are proud that nearly half of The Makers Fair makers represent BIPOC and LGBTQQIP2SAA+ communities. All our fairs and events are free and open to the public.
